January 27, 2020 – Start From My Backup today announced the release of ransomware protection for backup drives with My PC Mirror Professional.

A new organization fell victim to ransomware every 14 seconds in 2019. Unfortunately, most of these entities did not have proper disaster recovery measures in place, including protection for their backup drives. Ransomware isn’t discerning when it comes to infecting drives on the system. Backup drives are usually encrypted along with the internal system drive.

The latest version of My PC Professional now includes optional ransomware support for backup drives. When a backup complates, the backup drive is disabled and not accessible to ransomware. The drive is then automatically re-enabled prior to the next scheduled or manual backup. Users’ can also gain access to the drive from the My PC Mirror’s backup interface.

The backup drive is automatically re-enabling when starting from the backup drive. Users’ then have the option to restore their infected internal system drive from their booted backup. They can also run indefinitely from the backup drive until a suitabel replacement drive is located.

With My PC Mirror Professional, users are encouraged to start their PC directly from their USB backup drive.
